If you want to immerse yourself in a fantasy world where you are an all-conquering warrior, you can either strap on a suit of armour and head into your local forest or simply install an RPG on your computer, which is arguably the easier of the two options. Decent role playing games for mobile devices have been a little thin on the ground, but Shadows of Legend raises the bar with its combination of intelligent gameplay and highly impressive visuals.
The game gives you the chance to hook up with others online in a dark world dominated by dragons, beasts, and endless bloody battles. As with similar MMPORGs, all the action takes place in real time. You can go head-to-head with other humans, explore new areas, chat with online players and even collaborate with them in order to defeat the enemy.
Shadow of Legend is very easy on the eye, with well-modelled characters, detailed backgrounds, and lots of cool magic tricks along with other weapons. Sonically, the game does well too and has some amusing backing tracks and sound effects.
The online element relies heavily on the amount of bandwidth you can access on your Pocket PC, but if you have a decent spec device, Shadow of Legend will pull you away from reality for many, many hours.
